The Arizona
Department of Transportation, Jacobs
and TIS Consulting are currently
developing a traffic forecasting study for the Douglas Port of Entry.
The project objectives are to forecast the number of crossings at
the Douglas-Agua Prieta land port of entry (2015, 2020 and 2030),
determine whether the current and planned infrastructure will be
capable of withstanding the forecast traffic growth for the different
modes of transportation at satisfactory levels of service and
identify and finally identify the improvements needed to remedy
instances with unacceptable performance.
Additionally the
project will identify and address the most critical current and
future transportation needs of the LPOE including; current situation
of border connectivity, current bottlenecks of the crossing traffic,
significant drivers of traffic flow, demand projections for each mode
of transportation, determine capacity utilization in critical
infrastructure, recommendations to improve border connectivity
between the City of Douglas and City of Agua Prieta and develop an
integrated infrastructure improvement system that can adapt to
different traffic demands.
The Douglas Port
of Entry traffic study is schedule to be completed in January 2013
